Male pattern hair loss is caused in men by a sensitivity to a bi-product of testosterone called DHT. This hormone shrinks hair follicles causing hair strands to thin and eventually fall out of the scalp.
Oral Tablet helps to block the transformation of testosterone into DHT, which reduces the chances of hair follicle shrinkage. Minoxidil improves blood flow in the scalp which revitalises shrunken hair follicles and allows for a more effective administration of Oral Tablet to the areas that need it most. It is scientifically proven that the combination of these two medications is the most effective way to treat male pattern baldness without the need for surgery.
Duo is a daily treatment plan that contains the essential elements for treating hair loss. Here’s how we recommend using it:
Apply the Minoxidil solution to the affected areas of your scalp and crown twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
The Oral Tablet tablet should be consumed orally once a day at a time that fits into your normal daily routine. We recommend taking it at the same time every day (i.e. after brushing your teeth) or setting a timer though, so you don’t forget.

Minoxidil (60ml topical solution)
Oral Tablet starts working after about 3 months of continuous usage, although the benefits are usually seen from about 6 months. Some men only begin to notice an increase in hair density following a year of treatment. Whilst there may be some initial shedding in the first three months, this is actually a sign that the Minoxidil has begun to work. This is usually followed by visually thicker hair within 9 months to a year. However, optimum results are often seen after 16-18 months of consistent and regular use.
Any man that wants the bare essentials for treating male pattern hair loss should opt for the Combo plan. This treatment contains the only two scientifically proven medications for treating male pattern hair loss. However, if you are keen to increase the overall quality of your hair, you could consider adding in biotin or our DHT blocking shampoo included in our full works plan.
Minoxidil 5% cutaneous solution is a medicine for topical application to the scalp that stimulates hair growth in men aged 18-65 years with male-pattern hair loss (androgetic alopecia) when applied to the skin. For more information please refer to the patient information leaflet.
As with all medications, there is always a small risk of side effects. These medications are approved and licensed however by the licensing authority - HPRA, which means they are considered safe and effective for their intended use.

It takes some time for changes to become visible. Some men will shed more fine hairs than normal, but this is only temporary.
