Please read the product information leaflet.
Male pattern hair loss is caused in men by a sensitivity to a bi-product of testosterone called DHT. This hormone shrinks hair follicles causing hair strands to thin and eventually fall out of the scalp.
Finasteride helps to block the transformation of testosterone into DHT, which reduces the chances of hair follicle shrinkage. Minoxidil improves blood flow in the scalp which revitalises shrunken hair follicles and allows for a more effective administration of Finasteride to the areas that need it most. It is scientifically proven that the combination of these two medications is the most effective way to treat male pattern baldness without the need for surgery.
Combo is a daily treatment plan that contains the essential elements for treating hair loss. Here’s how we recommend using it:
Each Combo monthly treatment plan contains:
Finasteride starts working after about 3 months of continuous usage, although the benefits are usually seen from about 6 months. Some men only begin to notice an increase in hair density following a year of treatment. Whilst there may be some initial shedding in the first three months, this is actually a sign that the Minoxidil has begun to work. This is usually followed by visually thicker hair within 9 months to a year. However, optimum results are often seen after 16-18 months of consistent and regular use.
Any man that wants the bare essentials for treating male pattern hair loss should opt for the Combo plan. This treatment contains the only two scientifically proven medications for treating male pattern hair loss. However, if you are keen to increase the overall quality of your hair, you could consider adding in biotin or our DHT blocking shampoo included in our full works plan.
Minoxidil 5% cutaneous solution is a medicine for topical application to the scalp that stimulates hair growth in men aged 18-65 years with male-pattern hair loss (androgetic alopecia) when applied to the skin. For more information please refer to the patient information leaflet.
As with all medications, there is always a small risk of side effects. These medications are approved and licensed however by the licensing authority - MHRA, which means they are considered safe and effective for their intended use. Finasteride is well studied, having been available since the 1990s to treat hair loss and benign prostatic hypertrophy. Finasteride’s side effect profile is very favourable, with up to 4% of people reporting possible related side effects. These side effects tend to happen in the first six months of taking the medication and the vast majority resolve on cessation of Finasteride.
You can read more about Finasteride side effects here.
Please note, you must always read the complete list of side effects in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) enclosed with your medication before taking it for the first time and if you have any questions please reach out to email@example.com
Please report any adverse events to Yellowcard
Sons Finasteride is regulated by the MHRA, you can find the public assessment report here.
It takes some time for changes to become visible. Some men will shed more fine hairs than normal, but this is only temporary.
Hair loss may have considerably slowed or stopped completely. Some people see signs of regrowth, primarily at the crown of the head.
As the medication continues to work, miniaturised hairs will be replaced by thicker healthier hairs which leads to a gradual improvement in hair density over time .
